    Exhausting Journey to China
    Friday, 13 December 2019

My dad and I went to China for a week to visit my sister, who is studying there at the time. She is still learning the language, she hopes to pursue her higher education there. Well that was the original plan before this whole pandemic thing, as I'm writing this the world is still staying at home.. isolating, except maybe for New Zealand which is almost free from Covid-19. Back to my journey, I need to get to Singapore for a layover. As I arrived at Batam ferry station my dad went to take our ticket, while I went to grab starbucks coffee for us. Two macchiatos. I grab a venti for myself and a grande for dad. After waiting for a while, we were finally called to the depature dock. In the ferry, I read Looking For Alaska and while I was half-way through the book, we arrived in Singapore.

Our flight wasn't till quarter-to-two in the morning, so we took the MRT to my aunt's place to have dinner together, later in the day. We walked to my aunt's flat from the MRT station and since her apartment is near a mall, we went to the mall called Waterway. We bought some clothes for me and look for some more clothes and of course I went to a bookstore, but in the end I didn't buy any. Finally night arrived and we went to a Japanese restaurant called Gyu-Kaku and waited from my uncle, he arrived a few minutes later. We ordered meat for BBQ and also other dishes, my aunt ordered a caramel popcorn ice cream for me and it was delicious.

It was almost 12 P.M. when we arrived in Changi Airport we met up with my dad's friends and my mom's aunt who is only seven years older than my mom. We checked-in our bagagge and went to the depature hall. The wait was frustrating, I read a couple page in to the book and my eyelids can barely open anymore. I went to seven eleven to buy a coffee. An hour later we boarded into the plane and begin our flight to China.

I sat in a window seat and my dad was beside me. Seeing Singapore at night and from the sky is like seeing a million bright golden stars. I tried to take a picture of it but it's to blurry and not the same as seeing it in real life. Another hour later, I tried to go to sleep but I just couldn't maybe It's because I'm high up in the sky... but people around me were asleep. I tried to read but it's too dark and I'm afraid if I turn on the lights from my seat, people sitting nearby will be bothered. I basically was staring through the window for the entire flight to China and I was excited every time I saw a light from the ocean's surface. I took a blank picture in the plane and saw from the top bar of the photo that I was somewhere in the sea of Vietnam and that meant we are probably going to arrive in an hour or so.

We landed after a three and a half hour flight. Getting from the plane to the airport was a not-so-pleasant experience since I need to adjust to the chilly weather immediately. We need to travel for an hour from the airport to go into the town. After a long journey we finally arrived at the apartment where we'll be staying at for the week. I directly went to the bathroom to take a shower and went to bed to cope with my jet-lag.
apartment we are staying in.

It was a tiring journey and I know most people don't like to travel late at night, but I liked it, or maybe I just like to travel by plane. Read my next blog to know what I did on my first day!
